We decided to stop here because of Yelp reviews. The food was excellent. We had Thai spring rolls as apps. I had grouper and shrimp entree and hubby had salmon with cucumber. All were very good. Server Paul was very knowledgable and friendly. We will make this a part of our annual visit.

Great... Just great. The chef brought out a grouper and lobster dish which is by far my favorite. Would recommend this restaurant to any of my relatives or close friends.

They were very nice. They let us in a few minutes early as they don't open till 6. The food was very good. My daughter said it was the best chicken parm she has ever had. They had a nice variety of dishes and the only reason they didn't get five stars was my filet came out undercooked. They threw it back on for me. I would def eat there again. They don't serve liquor drinks there btw. Beer and wine only.

I wanted to like this place. The decor makes it look like they went to Kirkland at Home or Pier 1 and grabbed anything restaurant related to decorate. There was also a random TV playing underwater video. It stuck out because there was no other underwater theming or even beach theming. It made it seem like the restaurant was trying too hard to be cozy. The server seemed to struggle with the specials for the day, but my girlfriend tried the coconut soup (the special) and liked it. I tried the tomato bisque which tasted like warmed up marinara sauce. I found my Chicken marsala to be ok. A little sweeter than I'm used to, almost as if it had a balsamic flavor in the gravy. The chicken was a little rubbery for my taste and the potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. My girlfriend had a tie dish she enjoyed. The portions were pretty big and most likely could have been shared between two people. It won't be the worst meal you've had, but you can definitely do better in the area.

This place isn't near the water and is easy to miss but is a real jewel of a restaurant. It is a very clean, cozy Italian spot. The waitstaff are pros not collage kids working the summer and are very friendly and competent. I had the Chicken Marsala which was as good as it gets. My wife had a seafood curry that was excellent as well. The chef also mixes the menu up a little with other great dishes from Thailand and India! Its inexpensive as well. Most items are less than twenty bucks. Don't miss if in the area.

Food was excellent here! I would come back everytime I visit St Pete. We ate at 6 or 7 different restaurants while visiting and this one was our favorite as far as good tasting food.

Very, very slow service. The server was more interested in leaving work early. Thankfully the food was good, just a bit salty and slow to come out

We had a really great date night here this evening. The service was superb. I got the chicken thai curry and my boyfriend got the bbq chicken flatbread-- both were delicious. We aren't big seafood people but they had a great selection of fresh seafood on the menu too. Very big wine list which was awesome. The dim lighting and music added to a very relaxing ambiance. We wanted to have a nice intimate dinner outside of our fancy (and overpriced) hotel menus and we were so glad we took the 6 minute drive down to Cafe Luna. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the St. Pete Beach area! ** to anyone making note of a "geriatric" or 55+ crowd: From my experience, those are the type of people who typically have more culinary experience and more time and money to spend on food and wine. I consider it a pro instead of con. I will take their recommendation any day I'm 26

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening for a 7:45pm reservation given on the same day. Dotti was our server and was outstanding. Even though she was just filling in (doesn't work there full time) she was wonderfully kind, friendly, prompt with all service, and gave us excellent recommendations of what to order. We had the following which were all amazing: -fish soup (not cream based, and a special of the night). Perfection! -Crab cake. Stated it was spicey but it was the perfect amount of kick with the horse radish -SEAFOOD THAI CURRY which was amazing! Dotti told us that the grandmother (or mother i think?) of the chef (who is Thai) pass away and it was HER secret recipe which has been passed down. It was so wonderful. We did 2 orders of it among 3 people which was perfect; the dish is very large so you don't need a full serving to yourself. This place is delicious!!!!!

We went here because of the good reviews so was hoping for a good dining experience. The place does not look like much from the outside and the parking is limited. Got there around 7PM on a Saturday night and the place was about half full and it was mostly a geriatric crowd. The atmosphere was absent, decor was very mediocre but the tables were nice. They have a decent wine list and it seems like they only had wine and beer. Not sure what type of cuisine I would say is dominant here. They had some seafood, steak, Asian inspired dishes, Creole inspired... The wait staff were very nice but they forgot our salads so mark off for that. I ordered the chili snapper. It was way over cooked, tough and chewy. I was so hungry that night that I could not wait for another dish to made as was offered to me, so I ended up eating half. Others had the shrimp and andouille dish, although the sausage was nicely spicy the rest of the dish lacked the flavor I am used to when eating Creole/Cajun style foods. More points off for the food. They gave us desert on the house because of my dissatisfaction of the main dish. We ordered the key lime but then was told they were out of it. The had this pumpkin bread pudding with caramel and ice cream. That was rather good. At least the ending was nice. Sorry, but we shall not return here, perhaps it was an off night for the chef as there are many positive reviews here. But because of the atmosphere, the much older crowd and the so-so food, we shall not return.

This is a vacation staple for us. We've tried various dishes on each visit and have never been disappointed. The chicken Marsala is the best! Reservations are a good idea.

The service was good but... I ordered the Steak Napoleon. The presentation looked wonderful. The filet topped with a crab cake, sitting on top of mashed potatoes looked yummy. That's where looks can be deceiving. The meat smelled funny. The potatoes and the crab cake were really dry. The broccoli was undercooked. I hope I don't get sick from the meat. Notice: I'm from Washington DC so I'm not some local restaurant giving reviews but the meat smelled really bad. I didn't eat it and I didn't mention anything at dinner because I didn't want to come off rude around others but now I think about it, I should have.

My husband and I are locals and decided to try this out for our anniversary dinner. I read the reviews and was mildly concerned as they're rather mixed on here, but I have to say we really enjoyed our experience. It was a Tuesday so the restaurant wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. The ambiance was nice and the other diners appeared to be snow birds for the most part. There was only one server working and what appeared to be the manager or owner helping out, but this wasn't a big deal since it wasn't busy. After being seated, we were given waters and an olive oil mixture for bread and was told the bread was put in the oven for us. When it came out, it was clear that it was freshly made. The bread was extremely light and tasted excellent. The actual entrees were a bit slow to come out, but everything is cooked to order so wait times can be a bit longer than our normal rushed life is used to (which the menu mentioned). My husband ordered the Filet (Mignon) Napoleon medium rare and Pittsburgh style. When it came out it appeared to be about 6 or 7 ounces and was served with the crab cake on top. The steak was cooked perfectly and the crab cake was actually primarily crab instead of filler. He was thrilled with everything on the plate and only wished that there was more. I ordered the Shrimp & Andouille Sausage. It was also absolutely delicious. The portion was pretty large and was not scant on the shrimp and sausage. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and they had thoughtfully removed the tails before cooking so you could just dive right in. The cheese grits were smooth and all the vegetables tasted extremely fresh. I only ended up eating about half of it so I could save room for dessert and my husband finished the other half. Between the two meals, he said this was some of the best food he's ever eaten. There wasn't an official dessert menu so I don't know if they rotate or not, but I ordered the apple cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and a Bailey's caramel on top. It was wonderful and had a ton of cut apples in it. I would highly recommend it. We ended up taking a bit of this home after eating the ice cream and I would suggest just trying to finish it all there as it didn't reheat very well.

Really nice restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. I had the Grouper Parmesan which was a special and my husband had the Chicken Marcella. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and delicious. The restaurant was not crowded although it was a Tuesday evening. All in all, a very lovely meal at a great price.

Had dinner there last night and highly recommend. Fresh mozzarella was milky and creamy on caprese salad. Bread was delicious - crusty on outside and soft on the inside which made a great complement to the nicely seasoned olive oil. Strip was cooked perfectly- taste and quality of meat was easily determined. Service was friendly and attentive. Key lime dessert made a perfect end to a great meal. Can't imagine other posting stating meat was spoiled..... Did not sound anything like our experience. Also we were the only tourists in the place; the rest were locals which says a lot.

We found this little place after watching the sunset and wanted to give it a try. While it doesn't look like much from the street, we found it to be a really good restaurant. We ordered the Green Curry with snapper and asked that they grill rather than fry the fish...no problem! Dotty, our server was very helpful and accommodating. The wine was good too. We will definitely return.

The food was good enough, but generally overpriced. The one huge downside was our server. She was rude, dismissive and condescending from the moment she brought our bread basket until the minute she tried to rush us through our dessert. We ended up spending a good portion of the meal wondering what her problem was & luckily we were in a good enough mood to laugh it off, but the good mood had nothing to do with Cafe Luna.

What an amazingly romantic find in the midst of touristy St. Pete Beach. This quaint, dimly lit cafe was absolutely delicious. We started with the pumpkin chicken curry soup, which was the soup of the day. It was smooth and just as flavorful as it sounds. For our entrees we had the salmon a la Luna, which was salmon topped with spinach, olives, capers and grated parmesan in a cream sauce over rice (ask for it over jasmine rice). The other entree was grouper and crab piccata. Both were excellent! The service was exceptional and the prices were on par with any other fine dining establishment. This is where you eat when you're visiting the area and don't want the same touristy places everyone else goes too. It was the perfect place to dine after watching a beautiful sunset over St. Pete Beach.

My wife and I ate at Cafe Luna, and had a very nice meal in a very relaxed environment. We both commented that it felt like we were in a spa, ready to get a massage, since the music they played was very ethereal and calming. They also showed underwater aquatic videos on the TV, which we enjoyed since we are both divers. I ordered the Asian Tuna over vegetables and rice, which was very fresh and tasty. My wife had Filet Luna ordered rare which is how it came out, not many restaurants can accomplish that unfortunately. We also enjoyed their wine list. We look forward to going back when we are in the mood for another relaxed meal. If you are looking for a party environment, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a romantic dinner with good food, this may be the place.

While this place looks shaky from the outside the interior is warm and the food is excellent. Great place to go with a group or a date the staff and owner are very friendly and attentive. Definitely a must if your in the area local or tourist.

One of the reasons I signed up for Yelp was because of this place. I couldn't believe the reviews this place received and after my recent trip to St. Pete I needed to start leaving reviews. Two words for you, Food Poisoning. My mother has always been big on a small rule, if the place doesn't smell right when you walk in, leave. Unfortunately we were there for a business meeting and the choice wasn't in our hands to leave. WE arrived early, the place was empty and we waited...the servers asked it we had reservations and we didn't. They could not figure out where to place us in the entire, EMPTY restaurant. Finally we were seated and we began to review the menu, the waiter let us know the specials and also what they were out of since they were getting ready to change the menu. I ordered a vegetarian, portabello mushroom entree since there was very little to choose from. Two other people in my party ordered the vegetarian pasta options, while a third ordered a steak. My meal was strange, I couldn't understand the combination of sliced mushrooms with diced red peppers, green onions and goat cheese in a strange broth. Clearly this was thrown together from someone who doesn't enjoy mushrooms. There was a side a mashed potatoes and two small heads of broccoli. I ate it all, I was hungry and felt the need to finish my meal for some reason. Everyone finished or tried to finish their meals, the pasta meals were very little to be desired and of course way over priced. We asked our server for a desert menu and he said sure but that many of the items weren't available, again because of the menu changing shortly. We asked about espresso, since this was an "upscale" place and he explain that the espresso machine was leaking water, leaking VERY bad (we didn't need to know this). My party ordered a dessert that was not memorable and I don't think I tried it. I wanted to leave, we had been there about an hour. A few more patrons arrived and STILL the 2 servers that were working there couldn't seem to know where to seat people, did I mention this place was still empty when we left and people were waiting at this door to be seated. Not the best place to eat despite some of the rave reviews, just be cautious.

Amazing, but get a reservation, even in the dead of "winter" because they are tiny. I was there January 20th 2012

We were impressed by the freshness of the seafood-we had grouper and scallops, and the unique cajun twist for the new York strip. Ambience was warm and adult in this smaller space. Reservations best plan. Service was quietly efficient and professional. Food was elegant without being overly fussy or drowned excessive sauces. We will return!

We went to this restaurant because it was rated #1 on TripAdvisor. The food tasted fresh and was prepared well; however, it took the novice waiter over an hour to serve it. He apologized and comped a dessert, and we were grateful we had a bottle of wine to keep us occupied. This restaurant was good but not amazing. We're a little puzzled at why it's #1.

I joined yelp just because I couldn't believe the great reviews on this restaurant. First, it was empty, not a good sign. The wine menu was terrible. I can always find a decent merlot or Cabernet, but we finally settled on a sad merlot, considering they have wine bottles on two walls. The appetizer of spring rolls was delicious. My kids ordered a homemade pizza, terrible- the sauce had so much oregano it was barely edible- even for kids! I ordered the special, ribeye-Hereford with black beans and rice. First it was Not ribeye, when I asked what cut of meat it was, they said their chef cut the ribeye in a special way?! I worked in a steak restaurant, this was a strip and definitely not Hereford quality. My husband ordered the open faxed lasagna, let's just say it had the same oregano sauce, meat, and noodles, not sure u can even call lasagna, felt so badly for him, I let him eat half my strip/ ribeye, which he could barely choke down.

Great food and service. Kitchen made a mistake on one of the dishes and the server more than made up for it. Everyone in our party liked their dinners. Major bonus points for having a gluten free menu with several tasty options.
